Blog Post from Kenya!

Dear Friends,

People say that a journey of 1000 km starts with one step; sure enough we are already on the road to somewhere. As usual, all journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware. However, I hope this journey leads us to many needy children to help, feed, comfort and give love to them. Because it's not enough to live in this world, but we should be determined to live for something; May I suggest that it be creating joy for others, sharing what we have for the betterment of humanity, bringing hope to the lost and love to the lonely. My prayer is that through our support for this organization www.volunteerstokenya.org we shall provide this much needed love to those who need it. May this be our motto for the next year 2011.

Sincerely,

David O. Monari (Kenyan Coordinator)

V2K in Spain and more volunteers

Update: Jorge, our new Spanish coordinator, has translated the website to Spanish. A Danish version is yet to come.

For the moment it looks like David is welcoming 5 Danish volunteers in the beginning of 2011.

The first six months

Our organization is only a half year old, but we have already sent our first volunteers to Kenya!

Sophie and Camilla from Denmark were one month in Kisii at Nyanchwa Primary School during the summer. Tanya, as well from Denmark, was at Cheryl's in Nairobi for one month in October.

At the moment another volunteer, Jorge from Spain, is volunteering as a teacher at Bella, Nairobi.

More volunteers are coming; I have been in touch with four Danish guys who are very interested to join Kenya from the start of next year. Today I received a mail from David telling me that Andrej from Slovakia would like to go next summer.

Even though we are proud of the first six months, our vision for this project is to send out far more volunteers.

Please support us by spreading the word from mouth to mouth or through our group at Facebook called Volunteers To Kenya.
